Privacy Policy
AskStoria (an individually operated service; “we”) handles the information of people who use AskStoria (the “Service”) as described in this policy. This English text is a translation for convenience. If it differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.

2. What we collect and why
Signing up does not require an email address, name, postal address, phone number or payment details. We collect the following and use it for the purposes shown.

3. Sending information to outside services
Answers are written using outside AI providers. To generate answers, search sources and make narration audio, we send your question, part of the page you asked from, related source material and the like to DeepSeek (China), Google (United States and elsewhere), Cloudflare (United States and elsewhere) and OpenAI (United States). We do not send your username or anything else that identifies your account. Anything personal you type into a question is sent as written, so please do not include personal information in your questions.
These providers handle information outside Japan. You can read about each country’s personal information protection system on the Personal Information Protection Commission of Japan’s page on foreign legal systems (in Japanese). How long they keep it and how they handle it follow our terms with each provider and each provider’s privacy policy. We ask for your consent to this sending when you create an account.
When you open a page of the Service, your device also sends your IP address, browser information, the address of the page you are on and the like to Google (to display fonts), Cloudflare (to deliver pages, images and programs and to block attacks) and the Wikimedia Foundation (to show images and descriptions). We use no outside analytics or advertising services.
Except for the sending described in this section and where the law requires it, we do not give your personal information to third parties.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and your browser’s storage to keep you logged in, to save your settings, reading position and the like, and to keep the per-device number used for usage records. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking. You can clear them in your browser settings.

We take security measures such as encrypted connections, proper protection of login credentials, access restrictions and protection against unauthorized access.
6. Disclosure, deletion and other requests
- You can see your questions and answers at any time in “Your questions”.
- You can delete your account from “Account” in Settings. This deletes your questions and answers, reading position and collection, and cannot be undone. Usage records are unlinked from your account.
- For other requests, such as disclosure, correction or stopping use, write to [email protected]. We will confirm that you are the account holder and respond as the law requires.
7. Changes and contact
When we change this policy, we will update this page and its date, and announce important changes in the Service. For questions about this policy, write to [email protected].
